Pigeon Roost Community House of Prayer

We just got home from hoedown island. We sang three songs. I was able to tell a short testimony that we loves Jesus. One lady came up to me and said she was so happy to hear that we weren’t scared to talk about Jesus. It was a good night. I was actually able to do the ten step too! I love that. It was a lot of fun. I was happy to be able to sing about Jesus. On the way home tonight we stopped by miguels a pizza shop for hikers and climbers here in the mountains and we got a pizza. It’s good to be home and now it’s time to sleep! Have a great night.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Last night we drove out to Pigeon Roost Community House of Prayer. It was way up in the mountains. We drove, and curved around and drove through some beautiful valleys and over one of the biggest mountains I have ever seen….called “Big Hill”.

On our way up through the mountains thankfully our van did well and we made it all the way up Big Hill. We drove for about 45 minutes to an hour out of town. About 15 minutes in all of us girls were starting to get really pretty sick… I was hanging on as we drove around up and down, as the van swung around the curves I looked down into valleys and coves. I think we counted about 10 hilltops we could see at one point. As we were driving feeling pretty dizzy at this point… Hannah, our dear, sister broke out some strong perfume, at this point we were really sick…. I rolled down the windows and let some mountain air in the car…. I love the smell of the air here. After this we needed to pray I felt…sometimes when you go to do ministry satan loves to get fights going or people saying mean things, as we are all in the van and pressure of different things. And this I am afraid is something I fall into way too much. I started out praying… I prayed for the sweet people we would meet and that they would be encouraged most of all that Jesus would know we loved Him through this and He would be happy with us. We got to laughing soon and we enjoyed the scenery.

After a while we came to a sign that read “Pigeon Roost Community House of Prayer” we took the dirt road that went back in through some trees and down a curving lane. We came into view of a small, white church. There were a few people standing out beside the church when we pulled up…

We went in and heard some of the singers there. They did a great job. I love hearing good music. The Pastor said “The farther you get back into these hills the more you see we do things different”.

We got up and sang some songs and each of us girls gave our testimonies in between each song. We talked about the difference Jesus made in our lives. There was another young guy who gave His testimony about how God saved him from a life of drugs. It’s so neat to see God working in the hearts of these sweet people…. He is still working.

Here we are with Jan. She had a beautiful voice and we enjoyed hearing her sing. We enjoyed meeting the friendly people and making new friends. When we left they invited us back and were waving goodbye…. They were an exciting group to talk to. They got excited about Jesus…

After we got done the Pastor asked my mom if she would like to testify. I thought it was funny because my mom doesn’t like to talk in front of people. She always hated it when Dad would have her testify… but she stood to her feet and said she loved Jesus and she was thankful that her mom took her to church and that she now has children who love Jesus. Then the Pastor asked my Grandma to testify. My Grandma Allene was there and she never talks in front of people. I was ready to stand up and talk for her when she took a hold of the pew in front of her and stood to her feet. She spoke up loud and clear she said “I love Jesus and I don’t know what I would do without Him” she went on and talked about her children and how they loved Jesus. It was a beautiful testimony. She said that it was the first time she has ever shared her testimony in front of people.

The Pastor said “That’s three generations there! Isn’t that something” It’s so neat to see that when Jesus wants to change a family and when He comes in He makes all the difference in the world. And no one can help but talk about Him.

We were asked to sing one more song before the night ended and we walked out into the beautiful evening.. “Without Him”. I can’t help but think sometimes where would I be without Him. I would be dying, I would be enslaved and have no hope. I love Him. I know people who didn’t have Him. He is my Hope, my joy, my lover, my King, my God how can anyone live life without Him.

Thanks for reading the blog… I so enjoy getting your comments… from our neighbor just down the road, to our missionary thank you for your encouraging words and the prayers too cousin Carlie! We love you Dad…. and brothers…. Blessings to all.

Holly, what a beautiful description you have given. You will never forget what God did in our family last night through that little mountain church and the people and pastor there. Thanks for “taking us with you” through your prose and your pictures.

Here we enjoyed the beautiful Pyne wedding today. Jesus was lifted up here in their lives and in their wedding. I couldn’t help thinking about you girls and the mystery of marriage and the wonder of life.

I know you are on your way to Hoedown. I wish I could be there to watch you all sing and enjoy a beautiful Kentucky Saturday night.

I love you all so much.

    Hi Holly,Hannah,Hiedi and Hope,
I just want to say how much I enjoyed meeting you and hearing your beautiful voices. I feel like I have known you girls forever. Im very shy when it comes to talking to people that I have never met, but I just felt so comfortable talking to you. Your Mom is so sweet. I wish we could have had more time to get to know each other and to have sang together. I love singing for the Lord, I have a really hard time sometimes though because I get really nervous in front of people I dont know. I keep going on and singing though because that is what I know that the lord wants me to do.
I am so glad that you enjoyed your visit at our church. Im just sorry that more of our congergation wasnt there to enjoy meeting you and hearing you sing.
I talked to your Aunt and she is so nice. She told me she lives in Berea Ky. I was wondering if you could email me and tell me her name. Thanks.
Ok I guess I will go for now. We will be keeping in touch. I hope we touched your lives half as much as all of you have ours.
Love Your Friends In Mckee Ky. Janice & Levi Moore. ( Pigeon Roost Church)
